Thanks so much to Joanne Capella for submitting these Cleveland photos taken by her husband, Bill Bowen on a recent trip. I’ve never been to Cleveland – these shots make me want to go!

Travel Photo Feature #4

Yet another travel photo featured in today’s blog – this one taken by me on my last cruise. In October 2009 my fiance and I took a week-long cruise to the Western Caribbean, stopping in Grand Cayman, Isla Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel. This shot was taken on the pier in Cozumel, when we were returning to our cruise ship after a great day on the beach. I loved the dramatic sight of the two Carnival ships towering above us, so I had to capture a shot of it!!

Garie Waltzer

Wanted to post another link I thought everyone would like! Please check out the work of Garie Waltzer, who was an Artist-in-Residence at Light Work in 2008. Her photographs examine, in her words, “the cultural landscape of urban spaces.” She photographs locations around the world and they are just so detailed and intricate that they are a joy to look at! Please check out her website and let me know what you think!

Terra Galleria Photography

Take a look at http://www.terragalleria.com

I wanted to post a quick link to a website that lovers of travel photography might like! I came across it after I returned home from studying abroad, where I spent my spring break in Italy. I traveled to a wonderful place called Cinque Terre, 5 little villages on the Mediterranean that are connected by railroad and one of the most beautiful hiking trails I’ve ever experienced.

The website features the photographs of Quang-Tuan Luong, who has photographed around the world. His photographs are available for sale on the site, but even just clicking through the galleries is a joy! Check out his shots of Cinque Terre and let me know what you think – and any other places that these images make you want to visit! Enjoy!

Let me share with you one of my own travel photos, taken back in 2006 while on a Carnival cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. This shot is taken on the small island of Half Moon Cay, an island privately owned by the cruise line. It was a great beach day with some amazingly clear water, clearest I’ve ever seen!

Welcome!

This blog will combine two things I love: world travel and photography. I’ve been fortunate to go on some amazing trips in my life, and not only will I will share photos I have taken on my journeys both nearby and afar, but I will also show you photos by others that I love – both amateur and professional.  I hope to explore, write about, and hopefully discuss with everyone out there some different techniques and ideas for getting great shots to capture our travel memories and how to share them! Enjoy!
